Product Information

Being obese or having excessive body weight can put a toll on other body organs especially on the cardiovascular system. Being obese can also lead to other medical problems such as diabetes and heart problems.

Most anti-obesity drugs target the central nervous system and decrease appetite. Orliford contains 120mg of the active ingredient Orlistat which is used to help people with obesity. It does not act on the central nervous system. Fats from a person’s meal are slowly absorbed in the stomach then in the intestines. Orliford specifically targets the gastrointestinal enzymes which are involved in the digestion and absorption of fat in the gastrointestinal tract. The unabsorbed fats are then excreted then the body will burn fatty tissues to convert it into the energy needed by the body.

Taking weight loss medications is only one part of a complete weight loss program. Orliford capsules can help a person lose weight if combined with a well balanced, low fat diet and physical activity or exercise. It also helps a person prevent gaining back the weight already lost.

Orliford 120 is manufactured by Banford

Orliford is used to help treat obesity, along with low-calorie diet and exercise. This medication will not work if no lifestyle change has been done, like changing the diet into a well-balanced and low-calorie or low-fat diet and engaging in more physical activities.

The recommended dose of Orlistat for treating obesity in adults and children 12years or older is 120mg orally 3 times a day with meals containing fat. Note that this medication must only be used by children with the advice of a healthcare professional.

One capsule of Orliford 120 must be taken orally, 3 times daily, with meals containing fat from vegetable or animal sources. Meals must contain fat, but it must contain lower fat or calories than the usual eating routine. Each dose is taken either before, during, or 1 hour after meals. The capsule must be swallowed whole with a glass of water.

Orliford does not work without the presence of fat in a meal. However, the fat content of a diet per day should not exceed 30% of the total calorie intake per day. For instance, a person eats a total of 1200 calories per day, not more 360 of those calories should be from fat.

If a meal is skipped or a meal does not contain fat, the dose of Orliford for that meal may be skipped as well. If a dose is missed, that missed dose may be skipped if it’s already past an hour after the last meal. Continue with the next dose, but never double the dose to make up for the missed dose.

Taking of Orlistat capsules must not exceed 3 capsules per day, and duration of therapy must not exceed 6 months. Consult a healthcare professional if there’s no weight loss in 12 weeks of taking Orliford capsules as it may require stopping its use.

People with known allergy to Orliford, its active ingredient Orlistat and all its inactive ingredients must not take this medication.

Orliford is contraindicated to patients with the following medical conditions:

Orliford must not be taken by children or adolescents under 12 years of age.
