Product Information

Cefox 250 is a brand of antibacterial medication that contains 250mg of the antibiotic Ciprofloxacin. This antibiotic belongs to a group of drugs called fluoroquinolones. Ciprofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that is used in the treatment of a wide variety of bacterial infections caused by gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, such as urine infections, respiratory infections, bone and joint infections, sexually transmitted infections, skin infections, and digestive system infections. This antibiotic is also used to treat patients exposed to anthrax and other plagues.

Ciprofloxacin exerts its bactericidal action by inhibiting the enzymes needed for the replication, repair, recombination, and transcription of bacterial DNA. Antibacterials like Cefox are not effective against viral infections.

Cefox 250 is manufactured by Laborat Ltd

A tablet of Cefox 250 must be swallowed whole with a drink of water. It is best to take extra fluids each day while on Ciprofloxacin therapy. It may be taken with or without food but avoid dairy products like milk or yogurt and calcium containing juices two hours before or after taking Ciprofloxacin for it will affect the drug’s efficacy. Tablets is best taken at same times each day to help in remembering when to take. Skipping doses may increase the risk of further infection and developing resistant bacteria to antibiotics. Full course of treatment must be completed, even if symptoms begin to improve.

Cefox 250 must be taken exactly as prescribed by a physician. Dosage may vary per patient for it will depend on the type of infection to be treated, patient age, other medical conditions, and other factors. Below are the usual recommended dosages of Ciprofloxacin for various infections:
