Product Information

Syphilis is a sexually transmitted disease caused by a bacteria called Treponema pallidum. Just like other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) is transmitted by sexual activity, including anal and oral sexual activities. It can be transmitted occasionally via prolonged kissing or close bodily contact. It can also be transmitted from pregnant mother to the unborn baby. While the disease is spread through sores, the majority of those sores are unrecognized. Infected people are usually unaware of the infection and unknowingly passes it to their partners.

iCare Syphilis Rapid Screen Test is a home test kit that will provide a private, quick, and accurate result to detect antibodies of Treponema pallidum (TP) in the blood which will help in the diagnosis of syphilis infection.

Manufacturer

iCare Syphilis Rapid Screen Test is manufactured by JAL Innovation

Kit Contents

  • Test cassette
  • Micro pipette (dropper)
  • Alcohol prep pad
  • Buffer/diluent bottle 5ml (Chemical)
  • Lancet (Needle)

The desiccant is NOT intended for use in the test procedure, it is for storage purposes only.

How to use

  1. Open the alcohol prep pad. Clean the finger, usually the fourth finger with the alcohol prep pad. Allow the finger to dry.
  2. Push in and twist the knob of the lancet. Pull out the knob.
  3. Place the lancet on the finger and press trigger to prick the finger. Allow a drop of blood to form on the finger.
  4. Collect 2 drops of blood sample using the micro pipette. If blood is inadequate, gently massage the base of the finger to produce enough blood volume.
  5. Remove the test cassette from the foil pouch and place it on a level surface.
  6. Hold the micro pipette vertically and place the 2 drops of blood sample into the sample well of the cassette.
  7. Open the cap of the buffer/diluent bottle. Place 2 drops of diluent liquid into the sample well slowly. Make sure the liquid reaches the control line.
  8. Wait for about 15 minutes and read the result. Do not read the result after 30 minutes.

Results interpretation

Pink line next to “C” – NEGATIVE result (No TP antibodies detected)

Pink line next to “C” and “T” – POSITIVE result (TP antibodies detected)

No lines at all or line beside “T” only, but no line beside “C” – Invalid result (device faulty, must take another test using a new test kit)

If one tested positive, a doctor must be consulted immediately.
