Product Information

HIV or human immunodeficiency virus is a virus that attacks a person’s immune system. If left untreated, it will cause a complete destruction of the immune system. AIDS is the set of symptoms and illnesses caused by the final stage of HIV infection. HIV-1 and HIV-2 are the two main types of HIV. HIV can only be transmitted from a person with HIV via certain body fluids – blood, semen, pre-seminal fluid, rectal fluids, vaginal fluids, and breast milk. These body fluids must come in contact with mucuos membranes found inside the rectum, vagina, penis, and mouth, for a transmission to happen.

The most common risk of HIV infection are as follows:

  • Unprotected sexual contact with infected persons
  • Repeated use of syringe needles or intravenous drug users
  • Use of unsafe blood products or transfusion with infected blood
  • Transmission from infected mother to child
  • Healthcare workers taking blood samples

iCare HIV 1&2 Rapid Screen Test is a home test kit that will provide a private, quick, and accurate result to determine if one is infected with HIV. Results from this test kit can be achieved in as fast as 5 mins. If one suspects of being infected with HIV, it’s advisable to take a test 3 months or 90 days after first contact. Two tests, 30 days apart is also recommended. This test kit must be used within 10 mins after opening. It is intended for single use only.
