Product Information

Proscalpin contains 1mg of the active ingredient Finasteride, used for the treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) and to help with male pattern baldness. Initially, Finasteride was only used to treat BPH, treating urinary problems caused by BPH, improving its symptoms and lowering the need for BPH surgery. One company started to develop Finasteride for androgenetic alopecia or male pattern baldness when the side effect hair growth was seen in clinical studies. This medication is a type II 5-alpha-reductase inhibitor meaning, it prevents the action of the enzyme. This enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in the scalp which then shrinks hair follicles, leading to hair loss. Proscalpin reduces DHT levels, to promote hair regrowth and slow down hair loss. This medication does not affect hair growth in other parts of the body.
