Product Information

Fincar contains 5mg of the active ingredient Finasteride. This tablet is used to treat symptomatic benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). It helps shrink the prostate to improve the symptoms of the condition, reduce the risk of urinary retention, and reduce the need of surgery. Finasteride may improve symptoms of BPY such as decreased urge to urinate, better flow of urine and reduced straining,

Finasteride works by inhibiting the action of the enzyme called type-II 5-alpha reductase which is responsible for converting testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). DHT is responsible for the development and growth of prostate gland and causes BPH. Finasteride reduces levels of DHT in the blood to avoid stimulation of prostate growth and allows enlarged prostate to shrink.

As a side effect of Fincar tablets, it is also used in treating male pattern hair loss. It increases hair growth and helps prevent further hair loss in all areas of the scalp.  It can reverse baldness of mild to moderate hair loss in men, but not hair loss that was lost for a long time. This drug is not used to treat hair loss in women.

DHT is also found in hair follicles and is responsible for hair loss, causing hair follicles in the scalp to shrink resulting to smaller and thinner hairs which will eventually no longer emerge from follicles. Finasteride is able to reverse the process of hair loss by preventing the build up of DHT in the scalp hair follicles to allow normal hair growth.
