    Gabaco 300mg (Gabapentin)

Gabaco is a prescription medication that contains 300mg of Gabapentin as its active ingredient. Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant drug that may be used alone or in combination with other medicines to control and prevent seizures in adults and children aged 12 years and above; and treat partial seizures in children aged 3 to 12 years. It is also used to relieve nerve pain such as those caused by shingles (the herpes zoster virus) or due to diabetic neuropathy; and to treat restless legs syndrome (RLS).

The exact mechanism of Gabapentin is unknown. However, the drug affects chemicals in the nervous system and changes how body nerves send messages to the brain, which are involved in causing seizures and certain types of pain. Gabapentin is believed to increase the concentration of GABA – a neurotransmitter acting as a “nerve-calming” agent that keeps brain activity in balance. Gabapentin is also believed to reduce the release of glutamate – a neurotransmitter acting as a “nerve-exciting” agent that is thought to cause epileptic seizures and transmits pain signals to the brain.
